When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lucrative Spotify deal fell apart in 2023, Bill Simmons, The Ringer’s founder and managing director, was incensed.

“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation,” Simmons, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, which owns The Ringer, said on his self-titled show. “‘The F–king Grifters.’ That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.”

Simmons’ astonishing comments followed the collapse of the Montecito, California-based Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s $20 million deal with Spotify, signed in December of 2020. They delivered just 12 episodes of Markle’s “Archetypes” podcast.

    I would suggest a full length feature film called “The Great Abdication” . Meghan can play Wally Simpson and Harry the Duke of Windsor. It was a great story in its day, and would make a good period piece.

      I do think you may have something there – imo there may be an audience for that, as it has been said Harry has taken a somewhat similar tragectory as his great-great-uncle David, by walking away from royal duties because of a woman. People may watch, if just for the curiosity of seeing them portraying the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

      There’s nothing vile about this piece and it’s not cool or fair to attack the author who is doing her job. The couple are difficult to work with and have no talent. If they had talent, some of the negatives would be easier to put up with. You can continue to foam at the mouth and attack journalists if you wish. But sensible people have come to the conclusion that “life’s too short”. Isn’t yours?

      Yeah, the notion that the issue was the royals would’ve been plausible if Meghan didn’t also say the issue was her own family
      It’s hard to imagine how everyone around them dislikes them yet somehow the couple itself isn’t the problem

    I mean, yeah, we’ve been knew they have issues with staff since a bunch of them left them and headed to other areas in the palace within months of the wedding. But staff were supposedly the problem then so what’s the issue now lmao

      It was her only shot. Her talent wasn’t taking her anywhere. Naturally, playing the race card always needs to be dropped wherever possible. Poor poor little black girl. Soooo downtrodden.     Harry must have saved himself for marriage.
    He should have saved up quite a bit more, or got a loan from gramma. He got a hideous scab, and the bill will never get paid..
